What Are Dentures?

Dentures are a reliable solution for replacing missing teeth, whether you need a full set or partial restoration. These removable oral appliances help restore functionality while providing a natural look and feel.

If you are missing all teeth in the upper or lower arch, complete dentures offer a full restoration. However, if you still have some natural teeth remaining, partial dentures can fill in the gaps while preventing further tooth movement.

At Griffith Family Dental, we create custom dentures that closely resemble your natural teeth and gums, ensuring comfort, durability, and a confident smile.

Types of Dentures

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are used when a patient requires a full set of teeth for the upper, lower, or both arches. This proven and reliable method requires at least four appointments to ensure a precise fit. After placement, an adjustment period is expected as the gums adapt to the new dentures.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are a solution for patients undergoing full tooth extractions. These dentures are placed immediately after extraction, ensuring that patients are never without teeth. A mold is taken in advance, allowing for a seamless and natural fit.

Partial Dentures

A removable option, partial dentures help support remaining teeth by preventing shifting, rotation, and additional tooth loss. These dentures are made from acrylic or metal for a natural appearance and can often be completed within one day.

Denture Relines

Over time, dentures may become loose or uncomfortable due to natural changes such as weight loss, illness, or gum resorption. A denture reline ensures a secure fit and should be done every two years.

Denture Repairs

Dentures may become worn, torn, or broken over time. While some damage can be repaired, it is crucial to fix broken dentures immediately to avoid gum injury or further complications.

Denture Rebases

Soaking dentures in harsh solutions may cause warping or brittleness. A denture rebase repairs the pink acrylic base without altering the teeth, ensuring stability and durability.

Denture Implants

Over time, jawbone shrinkage due to aging, smoking, or health conditions may cause dentures to fit improperly. Denture implants combine dental implants with dentures for increased stability and comfort. Titanium rods are implanted into the jawbone, providing a secure foundation for permanent or removable dentures.
